well im picking up an olds 350 this weekend for 100 bucks, runs real good, no smoke, small leak from the valve covers, as usual.. should be a 1 maybe 2 day swap if i take my time. picking it up this sunday. dont think im going to try and get any more power out of it with the other heads i have, if anyone knows about olds motors, this one has the later #8 heads with like a mid-high 70cc combustion chamber, may put my 7A heads on there with 68ish cc chambers and a mild cam, but who knows. perhaps even throw my headers on there, but that would require me to find a 3in to 2 inch collector of sorts, or new muffs so i can just run dumps. anyhow enough rambling, update shalst happen this weekend

picked up the 350 on sunday, now it will sit until i can get this grand am out of my garage, hopefully it will be running for some halloween parties, granted it doesn't snow a foot by then.. I really like the way these guys pull the motor, all accessories still on there along with wiring and everything.
picture is kind of crappy, but whatever..

there will only be the downtime when i pull it, so it should be simple enough, hopefully i can get this grand am done in a couple weeks to get myself some time for my own projects..

well i was cleaning it up a bit last night and was kind of puzzled to find that the crank was drilled for a pilot bushing. which is really odd on an olds if it wasn't a standard trans car. this came out of a 76 delta with a th400 behind it. so thats kind of neat. it opens my options a bit if i can find someone with cheap stock p/p for a t56 and get the bellhousing. i may end up with the 6 speed in there this winter. perhaps if i am motivated today after work the 307 will be out of where it sits

well here is my progress, got the 307 out. took me about 3 1/2 hours to get it out myself. performed the engine delete mod.. hopefully i should get the intake swapped and such tomorrow. clean it up a bit and throw it back in.

had hoped to get this thing in yesterday, however ran across a snag.. original 1976 exhaust bolts.. broke friggen 5 of them after soaking them with pb for 2 days.. so i spent most of the night cutting bolt heads off and converting what were bolts, into studs. probably wont get it in there until friday now..

i win! successfully got the motor in and running. now its all about seeing if the tranny will hold up.. plus the radiator is leaking in the same spot it was before, thing of stop leak should fix it. tomorrow after work it shall be taken on the initial drive
