Although I'm aware that Jeremy can be a "knob" (as James May put it), he turned Top Gear into the most successful factual auto program in TV history. Ever since Jeremy took over as host back in 2002, Top Gear has been one of the few car-guy shows of which I've watched every episode. To me, he was a breath of fresh air amongst a sea of dull, politically-correct automotive show hosts - most of whom could be counted on to gloss-over any shortcomings the cars they reviewed may have had. I really enjoyed his irreverent style & willingness to hold auto manufacturers' feet to the fire when they screw up.
But no matter how famous you are, smacking one of your show's producers over a food screw-up is way over-the-top - regardless of the circumstances involved.
It's a shame that the most successful car-guy show in the history of television will most likely end on such a low note.
