I like to build cars, I spend money on cars but now we can't. Now there's no need for me to put in any overtime at work since I won't be needing the money since I'll just sit around and doing nothing. I don't drink but this sounds like a good recipe for a societal change in activities.

11:00 - Run to the Hill (there's a cruise route. they're strict about protocol while doing this. Follow the lead car. No parking on the grass)

I don't know if it's MSRA members only. I don't really see how they would know who's a member and who isn't unless you have to show your member card to get into the breakfast or something. This was posted on my club forum and was posted elsewhere and emailed by a guy named Dick Johnson who is active with MSRA.

The problem is a bill sponsored by John Marty of Roseville to implement the California emissions standards in Minnesota. They have been trying to find out exactly what that means and no one at the capitol or in California can answer the question.

What they do know is that if you have a car that has a motor in it that is less than 30 years old, before you can sell the car it must be brought up to the emissions standards of the engine when it was new regardless of the year of the car.

Example. My 37 ford has a crate motor in it. 2006 I think, before I could sell that car I would have to have catalytic converters and the car tested to meet the standards of that engine the year it was manufactured.

This is Scary: We need to contact our State reps now it is already through committee and could show up on the floor for a vote very soon.

If you do not know who your reps are here is the numbers to call:
              Senate 1-888-234-1112 or 651-296-0504

              House 651-296-2146 or 1-800-657-3550

The bills are House File number 863

              Senate File # 481

We all need to Call Write and E-mail This weekend. and show up for the run to the hill April 22nd.

The MSRA is working hard to get answers' but the committee that passed it on, by their own admission does not know all the details.
DO THIS NOW: thanks Dick J.

I dunno...there has to be some logic from the law enforcement people. They should be supportive of people who are in to cars. I would think that they would rather have these kids sitting in a lot talking about cars rather than being in to gangbanging, guns and or doing the drug scene. On the other hand, if a bunch of people are not behaving themselves, the officers have to do their job.

Everything was cool until a few years ago when that squad hit the curb and blew out his tire in front of Porky's. The dumbasses went out there and made fun of the cops and after that, they and the Porky's owners have had a different attitude towards the car guys. Before then, we used to sit in Porky's lot until 3AM and the cops just drove by and said nothing.

By the way...from what I've seen, John Marty is a joke.

are you talking about the emissions requirements? if so, then I don't have as much of a problem with it because my car would still be ok to drive and I wouldn't have to convert it to efi or 4 cyl. I still wouldn't want it to pass, but at least this way it wouldn't affect current or older cars

The problem is it opens the door for further legislation later. Every other state complies to EPA regs. Why should MN have to follow California regs? We have enough government "protecting us for our own good" the way it is.
