  • A friend just got crazy money for...

... original air pump he had for a '70 Nova SS 396/375hp. He bought the pullies at a swap meet a few years back for $35. Knowing it's worth good money he just had an Ebay auction for them with a $250 reserve price.
Well, there was 80 people watching the auction and no one bidding. He fielded tons of emails about the date codes on them though. Within the last few hours the bidding started going.
He wound up getting $1,000 for the package!!! It's going to a guy with a '70 Nova SS 396/375hp with 19,000 original miles. Buyer said that the pulleys were the only thing on the car that had ever been touched because the previous owner had put the chrome ones on back in the mid-70's. Car was appraised for ~$100,000. I suppose that'll go up another $5K with correct stuff on it now

    Here's the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970-...em330220107440

yeah, i wonder how much i could sell the original 70 cowl induction dual air snorkel for my chevelle for.

that is how usual bids go for these parts. i stalked an original mint 70 SS steering wheel to replace the worn one in my car, waited till the last minute, some guy out bid me, and i out bidded him with 2 seconds left in the auction, true story.

He said he about fell to the ground! I imagine he's got quite a few parts laying around that could bring decent money. He said this is going towards the "car fund".... working on them, not looking for yet another

This is the reason I own a fox. Hardly any money into it, I can drive it and park it wherever, don't worry about it, and don't worry about originality or crazy prices for original parts

Fox cars are kind of the new day camaro [not to be funny] The 1st gen camaros were like that now look at what they are worth so who knows.

I agree I always say to my cousin when we are at the track the fox body is the new 1 gen camaro, cause when I started racing that is what you seen the most of at the tracks were the 67, 68, 69 camaros, and now it's mostly fox bodys that I notice. from the standpoint people cram anything and everything in them and they go down the track good with all the aftermarket products they make for them.

Back when I had my Iroc in the mid 90's I had a deep hate for the fox, but now I like and respect them. Funny how shit works...

thats also what they said about mopars, and now look at the money some of them bring.

But I do agree with foxes being the modern day 1st gen camaro. Either Car Craft or Hot Rod said the same thing a few years ago too. They later ones are just winding down the "used car" years and they are cheap as hell, so everyone picks them up for projects, and the ones that aren't deemed savable due to the abundance of them are junked without second thought. It would be weird to think of foxes going for big money at barrett jackson in the years to come, but thats where we seem to be heading imo.
