How fast a car (quarter mile E.T.) would you be willing to drive at the track? On the street? I've been told by a few who have done it, that by the time you're in the 5's, it physically hurts bad enough that your brain has to be acclimated by forced repetition. Personally, 9's is my fastest ride so far, but I'm up for about pro-stock level (high 6's).

Here is the deal on that when I first got the camaro in the 10's it felt fast and I mean fast. Forward 10 years now 10's feel slow and as your bod and brain get used to something you need to go quicker and faster to get that same feeling kinda like drugs but I never used them HONEST:rotfl:

I once rode in a tube-framed '63 'Vette that could run over 180 MPH in the quarter. We did 0-180-0 in less time than I could think about it. I was 16 years old & I loved it - but I wouldn't want to do that on the street again!
I've driven cars over 160 MPH in longer races, but the quickest I've driven in a quarter-mile run is only a high 12. I've pulled 9 Gs a number of times in aircraft, so the G-forces don't bother me. In fact - I love it! I'm not sure if I'm a good enough driver to pull off a full-on race in an 8 or 9-second car, but I'm pretty sure the speed wouldn't bother me. A dream of mine is to run 200 MPH-plus at Bonneville.
Where do I draw the line? I don't know. I've never driven or been in anything that pulled too many Gs, was too fast, too quick, or anything like that. I have a hard time imagining going too fast on land or in the air. I guess those 200 MPH boats are pretty nuts - water is not a forgiving medium. I think I'd be scared shitless in one of them.
Back to the original question:
On the street? Maybe 11 sec.
On the track? With a good setup & some practice, I'd like to try a 6-sec. car. If I could handle that, I'd think about trying T/F.There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life. - Frank Zappa
