Over the past month I can't believe how many unmarked squads I've seen around.

If it's this bad now...what about when it gets nice out???

FORD lost their contract with the government for a good number of states who are now authorised to "use any vehilce in need" as a cop car. most new ones will be impalas, chargers and think minivans and SUV's, and i started a thread on TCS about hidden undercover police in the summer, that is when they have "confiscated" turbo imports, sports cars and muscle cars in use. to give an idea, st paul has a mint grand national in use on UNI. were you all not aware of all the strange cars with lights and sirens heading to the bridge collapse fullspeed right after it happened? you would if you were close. they have vehicles we wouldn't imagine them using.

Are you sure that they're all officers though? The ex-service Crown Vic's make great, reliable cars and they're quite reasonable in price these days too. I had a 2000 CVPI for a while (last winter) and wish I wouldn't have sold it. But I used the money to purchase the Malibu so it all worked out in the end. I will have another Crown Vic at some point though when my current beater/DD gives up its' ghost

The most out of place undercover I ever seen was a '70 Trans Am back in the Eighties. Of course we were driving a '69 GTO and a '70 Camaro at the time.

well at least I know Burnsville won't be using chargers cause the startup cost is too much in their eyes. Talked to one of the cops that gets to spec them. Said it was a nice car but chrysler would realse repair info to thier maintance shop thereby they woulld have to take them to the dealer. Plus the vic's cam prewired.
