Finally got the GN running, after buying a set of 1-ga jumper cables to get it started with a completely flat batt & then putting a nice Optima Yellow Top in it. Didn't make it up to Snelling, but I did check out Applebee's on Lyndale & 96th. Fair number of cars, especially considering that the Street Machine Nats started today. Shot a few pics. I had never even heard of a Ford Falcon Sprint before! And the "I'm not a Merc" is a Hudson.

Well...my cataract surgery in both eyes is finally done! Got my best eye done on Wed. 1st one was done 2 wks ago. I can already see better with no glasses than I ever did with glasses - and I've been wearing glasses ever since I was 15 & failed my 1st DL eye test. Shit, I'm seeing better than I ever did even when I was a little kid! :) Planning to take the GN out for a nice, long cruise tomorrow & then head up to CRB now that I don't have night vision issues anymore.There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life. - Frank ZappaComment

Shit, the CRB cruise is done.
As usual, a few shitheads spoiled it for everyone else by not respecting private property, leaving trash in the parking lots, and driving like fucking idiots! So, the business owners in the area complained to the city council. Now the cops will give trespassing tickets for hanging out in the parking lots along CRB & will tow your car if you don't leave immediately. The city is even thinking about actually closing CRB on Sat nights & detouring traffic.
What a fucking mess! The only regular weekend cruise in the metro is gone, and just think about all of the lost income at the restaurants & clubs along CRB, now that the car guys will no longer be hanging out on Sat nights.

I drove down there right after I bought the '00 but it was pretty much done shortly afterwards. Was warned to not go down there as they were busting people. I remember some guy doing an interview on TV about the racing scene down there and that was the end.Comment

Yeah, I remember that some of the TR guys were going there back in the late '90s, before I ended-up moving back up to my hometown for a few years. I showed up there once, but never raced. They finally got my new glasses done right! Fuck, I can finally see decently again! Picked 'em up yesterday & then drove down & took the GN out. Sister's RWD Genesis is in the shop for a week due to intake manifold leaks, so I can put the GN in the garage for now. Forgot that I parked it with a full tank of 110. Gave the turbo a bit of exercise while getting onto 35W. Spooled her up to 22 lbs & surprised the shit outta a newer Camaro SS & a Hellkitty. Haven't been pinned to my seat that hard in years!
