  • Street tires

What tires do you run for the street. I have tried some DOTs and DRs and now a pair of Mickey SRs. I like a tire that has full tread, but think the DRs that have very little tread are probably the best hooking. The Nittos I had were a pretty hard compound and lasted quite a while. They seemed like they were getting harded from aging, I guess I didn't use em enough.

I had very good luck with the Nitto DR's. They bit quite nicely on the street for me. I don't know what I'm going to try this summer though. This car is making more torque than the one I had the Nitto's on and they don't have my size. So I might end up with M/T ET Street Radials...

HUGE fan of the nitto for the street for my car.

M/T Drag radials seem not to last that long on the steet and do better at the track over nitto but I am going off my cousins fox body mustang cause he has done both in a 275/15

I think sussp mods, road surface and how hard you hit the tire has allot to do with how you hook on the street.

I have tried just about every tire you have mentioned on here so far, also went as far as buying some cheap discontinued sprint car tires off the Hoosier web site, they were probably the best hooking on the street and only 65 dollars a piece,

              www.hoosiertire.com/discontinuedtires.htm

but I have come to the conclusion that nothing hooks good on the street, you just need to know your car, so I went back to the Hoosier quick time pro's, they hook like a slick on the track and on the street, on the track with heat and traction compound, wheelies, and stick like glue, on the street, hook like shit like everything else, I would just go with whatever fits nice and looks good.

et streets w the right sus setup and I hook or black track on motor and can hit full spray in second on the street. O n the track I can hit full spray out of the hole.

All the cars I see hooling on the street w any sort of decent power are running et streets

I have run Nitto DRs and MT DRs and I really liked the MTs best.

mt dr's. I've used mt et street's they were ok, used nitto's 555's they were junk. The mt dr's seem to be the best.

What kinda power are you pushin? Personally I'd get a second set of rims for weekend excursions and run either the M/T DR's or Hoosier's depending on what size rim your runnin.

Its better to be able to switch over if you actually drive your car more than 25 miles :rotfl:
