  • Finally watched two lane blacktop.....

I have been told by many I need to see two-lane blacktop. I finally bought it about 3 weeks ago. I watched it last night for the first time. Got to tell ya, it wasn't that good. Some parts were cool but I didn't really think it was as good as the street sence hype.

    Flame on!

    I bought it for $35.

I will sell it for $20. It comes with two discs and the screen play. lol

You know, it's funny. I thought the same thing as Phoenix when I saw it the first time too! I thought the acting was sub-par. The script was pretty boring. The only redeeming thing about it was the 2 nice cars.

"I need to check the valves."

Of course the acting is sub-par. It's a cult, b-movie with two musicians in the lead roles. It's one of hot roddings best cult classics (among several).

It's like fine wine or cigars....you have to develop a taste for them.
Life is too short to waste time and energy on hate.

I agree. I've watched it several times since the first time and realized you just have to take it for what it is. It's grown on me! I even have the '55 as a diecast model, although I bought it with the '32 from American Graffiti (another great classic).

Hey Phoenix it's too bad you were disappointed.

James Taylor wasn't really an actor...just going along with the flow.

I rented Bullitt and watched it with my sons. It was pretty boring too until he got into the chase scene with the Charger. That scene was worth waiting for after watching the other boring stuff.

I picked up a copy of "Deathproof", Quentin Tarentino's tribute to what he calls "grindhouse" movies. Reminded me of the old movies we used to see at the drive in. This movie is made to emulate the crude style of these low budget films. Boring dialogue, choppy cuts, gratuitus sex and violence, and great stunts. If you watch it with this in mind, its great! Worth watching just for the chase scene, but watch the whole thing to get all the humor.
                  Recomended films for gearheads:
Two lane blacktop( four wheeled Easy Rider )
Vanishing Point ( just as dumb story )
Bullit ( skip directly to chase seen )
The California Kid ( bad made for TV movie )
American Grafittti ( who hasn't seen it )
Hollywood Knights ( AG copy )

                  Anyone else have any favorites?

You let me borrow yours and I still haven't had the time to watch it.

What about the movie where the three crashed into the train at the end of the movie. They were in a Charger
