For some reason people think the site will die if there's not a gazillion posts. Or....if there aren't posts, a magical timer or alarm will go off and the site will dissappear?
Like I said before, the site is here to stay. Whether it's one post or 5 posts, I'm in this for the long haul.
We could use more activity, but not if it's just crappy nonsense. Maybe 01 darkblueTA and superford3 aren't trying to be mean spirited, they like the site and want it to succeed.

I agree.
Usually the policies are well known when people go about breaking the rules, and then they complain when you do what is necessary to enforce them. Many times, they think they know why a thread is closed or a post deleted, but many times they don't. But people will believe what they want in the end and say things that aren't necessarily true.
What I don't understand is why not look at what a site can provide and focus on making the most of what the creators intended it to be. If everyone were at the controls, the site would be a mess and no one would be happy. Also, just because a member wants to post something off topic doesn’t mean everyone else wants to read it. It’s unfair to the other members. If someone is being annoying, it’s either up to the admin or the general membership to provide the boundaries. Most people don’t want to deal with the conflict and prefer not to see it.
Yes, there is another site that is an indisputable success in membership numbers, but the focus is not the same as here and the goals are different. If they were to use the same formula here, then it would be the same thing with a different web address. You pick up Hot Rod to read about cars, not read the latest b.s. from the Enquirer. Yes, a lot of that is part of any website, but it’s important to remember the focus and intension's of why a group of people spend their time maintaining it.

I don't think this site is doing to bad really. If you think about it, there's usually been a couple new people joining each week (who want to be here seriously). I think that's doing alright since it's only a couple months old and in the middle of winter. Like S-S-R said in the second post, it's the middle of winter. I think that once people are out and about with their cars, hitting up the shows, cruise-ins, and track, the word will spread much quicker! Decals (once they're finalized) will also help spread the word.
And I agree with so much that has been said already in the thread, especially the quality over quantity part! I'd much rather read a few interesting/pertinent threads instead of having to sift through garbage.
