  • Another "Mighty Mouse" SBC vid and my commentary

Equipped with the "Mighty Mouse" 355 small block Chev. Using 5.65 gears, runs 9.96 at 135 mph.
Quite an amazing design introduced in the '55 Chevs from engineer Ed Cole, along with Don MacPherson..
Versions of the "Mighty Mouse" pushrod engines are still in production today. Mocked by competitors as "outdated design" (due to using pushrods), the compact and "power packed" Chev powertrains have been installed into more hot rods and street rods than any other manufacturer.
After over 65 years of successful GM powertrains, other manufacturers such as Ford, boast about their "superior" V8 design, which resorts to using 4 camshafts and 32 valves and makes the physical size much larger than GM's compact/lightweight-single camshaft/16 valve.
With the proliferation of mockery of GM's powertrains--I seriously doubt GM enthusiasts will swap their pushrod engines for Ford's "superior" design though.
