So this past winter I bought a used 2002 1500 Burban for a 1K that is pretty clean. I wanted a backup tow vehicle that I could use if my wife needed her truck. It did have lean codes and trans shifting issues but I got those fixed pretty easy. It has 244K on it but this truck runs like a top, and is an LT version with lots of options. Today I decided to try and tow with it, I put my little car on the trailer strapped it down and off I went. In tow haul mode it did very well and in town I don't think you need that mode as it shifts to 3rd around 40mph, so in town that won't do well. I got it on the highway and the truck went up to 60 real nice at around 2300 rpm. Went home unloaded the truck and will get it ready for the summer after I flush the trans and change all the fluids. It does need some new rear spring but I found air bags for it so that's what I am going to use. Sure is funny that these trucks were around 30K and you can get them for next to nothing these days. 5.3 FTW!

Just got done flushing the trans this week, then I put Lubeguard additive in it, took the truck out for a drive WOW does this thing shift nice now. I will be putting in some new u-joints in the rear drive shaft as the back one is loose and not a good thing to be towing with. Couple of other minor things to do and maybe will use it in July for a race or two.

Put in the rear u-joint last night, what a pain in the azz. I hate those plastic retainers for the u-joint cups then you have to hear the crap out of the driveshaft to get them loose and it still won't break free. Next I found out there are 2 different rear pads sets. One is with posi and the other is without, I looked up the type I have and it says open rear axle but it has the bigger brakes, figures. Oh well, better stopping power towing the car trailer.
