  • GM and Ford better look out

Looks like Chrysler is going to have some good track and street car coming out in the next few years.

Dodge •The redesigned Charger will use the Alfa Romeo Giulia's rear-drive platform and, according Automotive News, draw inspiration from 1999's Charger concept car. We're wagering the 24-month time frame specified to dealers will move the new sedan's arrival up from 2018 to mid-2017.
•Jalopnik's Opposite Lock claims two new Challenger models are coming. Challenger ADR (American Drag Racer) and T/A. ADR should appeal to bracket racers and is more powerful than the SRT Hellcat, while T/A is for track rats, just like Viper T/A.
•Automotive News claims the legendary Barracuda nameplate will be revived as a Dodge. The Barracuda will be smaller than Challenger, offered as both a coupe and a convertible. Allpar claims it will feature modern styling.
•A Dodge Durango SRT was announced with 6.4-liter Hemi V8 and rear-drive. Sources within FCA confirmed its arrival with Autoblog. Apparently, dealers were shown an example in B5 Blue.
•Dodge will launch a turbocharged, 300-horsepower Dart, sort of fitting the five-year plan. Allpar Forums say no R/T or SRT model is in the cards and that a hi-po engine will be offered across the Dart lineup, while Jalop's Opposite Lock says there will be an R/T and a Carrol Shelby-invoking GLH model (see why we warned you about the salt?). Whatever it's called, expect the hot Dart to be powered by a Hurricane four-cylinder, which one FCA source tells Autoblog "will be going in a ton of shit."

Very cool! With Mopar upping the ante so substantially - hopefully GM & Ford will do the same. Another musclecar war between the big three would give us a lot of relatively affordable fun cars to drive!

Most Chrysler corp and now FCA cars have been some of the most problematic and unreliable cars out there. Other than a few muscle cars from the '60s and early '70s, resale has been worse than just about any other make. About 500,000 Ram truck owners are now being offered a buy back because they can't be repaired. Not sure how they sell as many as they do. The new hellcat is pretty impressive power wise though.

I was just talking with the owner of the dealership about these new models yesterday. Of course he is biased, but he said when they unveiled the Barracuda, everyone's jaw hit the floor. Hopefully they will stay true to it?!

I just wish they would quit using the nameplate's on these newer cars, cant they come up with something else...................

Yeah, the Chrysler corp is starting to catch up with all the GM recalls.......

Dodge (and to a lesser extent, Chrysler) JD Power dependability ratings are dismal, at best. Well-below Buick, Cadillac, and Chevy. Here's JD Power's 2015 vehicle dependability study by make: http://www.jdpower.com/ratings/study...y-Make/626ENG#

The ones that have been sent back for repair and weren't/couldn't be fixed will be offered buy back which equates to half that number. Not that that makes it any better.

I don't see Chrysler/Fiats new plans as much of a threat to government motors or furd. Chrysler has always played 3rd fiddle to them for as long as I can recall. They will be niche models at most.

Even in the 60's and early 70's? As I recall Ford and GM were trying to catch them.......................

In total yearly sales. I dig certain Mopars and had a few though not desirable by most, were good vehicles for me. I beat the snot out of my old slant six Dart and it never failed me. My turbo Voyager minivan took a few people by surprise. Yes I'm aware of the Mopar heritage and respect it. I've got a new Chrysler product in the garage.

We looked at a HEMI Challenger and 42K is way to high for my taste. Nice looking car though.
