Ya, I remember the days of working on some of the POS Pontiacs that GM built. Rattle, leak and squeak cars back then, most of the cars were under powered so instead of GM making them better the just dropped them. The Fiero was a prime example of that, in '88 the car was coming around with possibly getting electric power steering, then in 1990 was going to get a complete restyle. I got to see the pictures from our zone rep and I will tell you the next gen of the car would have been a hit. Sadly GM said no so that was the end of the Fiero. The next POS Pontiac made IMO was the Trans Port van, it was a complete pile of junk with tons of repair problem. Look at the last made GTO, great driving, well built car but looked just like a Grand Prix. The pictures that the zone rep showed me of what it was supposed to look like was thumbed down by GM. When does a company as big as GM finally listen to the buyers and make what we like then fire the idiots the design some of the ugly crap and get some fresh faces in charge. I would teat the doors down if GM made the 6th gen Camaro in a stripped down version with no radio, no p/w, p/s, no nav or any of that crap. I do not need a console or any frilly stuff when I buy a performance car, just a big ass engine with a 6 speed and a rear axle that can withstand a 5K launch.

      Here's a new Camaro without A/C? $75k though.

Probably too small of a number of purchasers to warrant re-engineering them without P/S.

My '71 SS-454 came without p/s and I traded a friend even up for his power steering pump, and steering gear from his Z-28. He had put a big block in his and was hurting for room. So much nicer to drive and quicker ratio, wouldn't go back to manual steering on that car.

      Oh well--to each his own.
