  • The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is the most powerful sedan in the world, with 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Even though it is a big, heavy 4-door sedan, its slippery form allows this beast to go over 200 miles per hour, with an official top speed of 204 miles per hour.

Some people have questioned the validity of this claim, so Dodge has rolled out a video explaining – and showing – the process behind getting an official top speed of 204 miles per hour.

Rock opens in 2 months baby, we will see if any of the new stuff is our there. I do know one thing, a few years ago there were 2 supercharged CTS-V's running high 10's, Dan Davis with his supercharged vette and AJ with his 427 C5 and I could not get one of those guys to race my Camaro with a little old 358 pump gas Small Block with all out dated stuff. Could it be the fact that my car went low 10's that day with junk parts and I would hurt their ego's?, or is it better to say like JR used to "this car has ten second power" but what he learned quickly was that power does not lead always lead to a good ET track time. Ask Joe, 652rwhp and an 11.20 time slip to show for it. With that much power the car should be in the high 9's, but it's not. Funny how most of the late model guys are afraid of old school stuff.

I suppose, it's hard enough for you guys to fathom a two door Mopar being this fast much less a four door.

        Lets just agree to disagree

Glenn is right. Most powerful does not necessarily mean fastest or quickest. That said - I don't doubt the 204 MPH claim. Definitely an impressive top-end for a 4-door sedan. The 4-door Porsche Panamera Turbo S is slightly quicker from 0-60, but it can't match the 'Cat's top speed - and it costs 3 times as much. However - to put things into perspective, a modified 87 Buick Grand National officially made it into the 200 MPH club many years ago. It was running a stock-block Buick 3.8L V6 with lots of boost, a much taller than stock rear gear, along with a few aerodynamic trim parts from the Talladega version of Harry Gant's Skoal Bandit Buick.

If a boxy G-body Regal can break 200 MPH with a stock-block V6 that develops considerably less power than the Hellcat, a 4-speed automatic, a taller gear, and a few plastic aero parts - I'd certainly HOPE that a 28-year newer Mopar with a lot more HP, twice as many gears, and a much slipperier shape could do it.

Yeah, I understand what your saying. Your not helping your argument. This is a stock car from the factory, meaning no modifications.

There is no argument. I never doubted Dodge's 204 MPH top-end claim, because I already knew that a GN broke 200 MPH with a bunch of bolt-ons & some NASCAR aero bits - and it made a lot less HP than the 'Cat. The only thing I've doubted is your claim that the Challenger 'Cat is the quickest American production car in bone-stock form on pump-gas - which it's not if you go by the factory claims for the 'Cat & ZO6 w/ZO7 package.
