So were you doing when JFK was shot in 1963?

I was at school in 3rd grade just coming in from outside playing on the play ground and they told us the news at 1pm. Was a very sad day.

I was in second grade. We were making hand prints in plaster of Paris when they announced it over the intercom at school. Even at that age, we understood the seriousness of it. We were in shock. Some kids started crying. On the back of my hand print mold, I inscribed the date, along with the words 'The day President Kennedy was shot.' They closed school for the rest of the day. Very sad day, indeed...
