When you watch the video, The car bogged horribly and took a long time to get through the gears. That was no 11.60 run.--it was with a lap top in the car? Let's all lap top race and not go to the track. http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...uKtVSEC9AzWLzq

C'mon Motor Trend...go to a sanctioned track with timers and when you get the 11.60 run, I'll be the first to congratulate the Ford enthusiasts. Wonder how much Ford paid this clown to give us this garbage. Plus he is a shit driver.
Uh oh. Let the shitstorm commence. (MotorTrend comment section on the GT500 article)

I'm not Sloan-Kettering but either he/she read my post from yesterday or is using the same common sense logic as I did.

Evan Smith testing the 2013 GT500.
          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EU1ym8nUOUs

And the Ford guys say.."it'll run low 11s with slicks"

Hmmm...let's see...2.66 1st gear and 3.31 rear axle with slicks? Can you say BOG!!!. Hell, it's already bogging!

Goes to show how much bench racers know about what it takes to launch a car on a sticky track.

Humm....How could ford be that dumb:laughing smile: To make a good ET you need a good launch ratio either through gears or steep 1st gear. Change the rear gear in that car then even high 10's are possible. Chime in any time Dan :laughing smile:

That's the same video as the other thread, I think this is the one where he used launch control and it was hot lapped over and over or something but I could be wrong. Supposedly after this run was filmed, he ran like 11.5 without the launch control.

Regardless, yes, 3.31 rear gear sucks. :)

Uhhh...where's the video and timeslip of the 11.50 run? Could it just be Evan Smith's opinion that it would run an 11.50?

Cars had at least 20 passes on them and were heat-soaked. In my opinion a decent track and 70 degree day would yield sold 11.50s at 127-129.—EJS.
This link was posted 6 days ago on 5/22. Has Evan Smith made the 11.50 run since then?

It is amazing how long it takes any car to get up to 200mph. Seems like one can get a car to 130 or 140 but the last bit seems to take so much more power and extra distance. 196 is nothing to sneeze at but 200 does have a nicer sound to it.
