I didn't say it sucked just said I don't like it. Not bad but not great either...

You won't get an argument from me on that one. I love the 1 gen Camaro. They're hard to beat for a drag car or for looking at, but at my age, I'd rather have a car that traps over 110 mph in the 1/4, handles, gets 20mpg + on pump gas, has A/C, cruise, comfortable seats, air bags and ABS. Also, I can hop in and go 700 miles or more without having to pull a trailer behind filled with tools to fix it and see a chiropractor from sitting in those flimsy seats.

I grew up in the '60's and have fond memories of the 1st gens. My brother owns two '67s and I used to drive my wife's '69 RS/SS 396 when we first met. I don't regret for one minute getting rid of the '69 and buying my 2000 SS. I couldn't have properly restored the '69 what a new ZL1 costs today. To put $50k into a car that I can "look" at didn't make sense. If I were wealthy, I'd have a collection of 'em. But to choose a car that I can only use for short trips vs one with all the technology of today is a no brainer for me.

I have bitchslapped plenty old muscle and many late model with the 2000 and over the past few years, have only raised the hood to change the oil. I could hop in it and drive cross country, get 25 mpg and stop at a track along the way and run high 11's or low 12's without raising the hood or changing a tire.

I realize that we all have choices and what works for me may not work for others. But regardless of how nostalgic, I'd rather listen to music on a cd rather than an 8-track tape too.

I love the 5th gen Camaro. I think the biggest gripe people have with it is the weight. At the same time, most people don't realize that GM needs to make a car that has all the creature comforts to make the car appeal to the masses, and it also has to pass strict crash/safety tests. That equipment is going to add some bulk to the car.

I am very interested to see what happens with the next gen Camaro because it will share the Alpha platform with the ATS and CTS. The ATS was just unveiled and it only weighs 3400 pounds, so I think it is likely that the Camaro will lose some weight in the next gen.

99% of the people who have bought a new camaro do not care about weight or drag racing at a track. It's a cool looking car and as retro as you can get.
