so I have a 400 sbc that I plan on messing with a super charger with .. Yesterday I was at a friends house and he asks me if i want an intake .. he had found it in his garage in the attic .. so i took it home since it was free.. Its a weiand 7546 X-Celerator.. so it looks like theres a pretty straight shot down the runners ... I think that with the right cam and some cleaning of the casting marks this intake could work out ok on this motor ..

the motor so far is bored 30 over forged trw pistons Xrods and for the timebeing to keep things cheep im gona clean up and pocket port the stock 882 heads .... as of now I have a sn93 paxton SC.. not the greatest but it was almost free.. so ill use it till i can find something better in my budget ..

Actually the srtaight shot runners are not the best as we have seen in the old style torker intake that eddy used to make. The best ones now are the ones with the runners that are curved to get the runner opening more in line with the port with the far wall of the runners.

Of course a free intake is nothing to sneeze at. One other thing get rid of the 882's they have very poot exhuaust port. Look for some 993's, 487's or 441's.
Exhaust is more important with a blower, turbos or spray.

If he can't find any of the others cheaply can't he just open up the exhaust ports on the 882's?

What sort of blower is it, Weiand or B&M street unit? Those blowers originally came out and were designed as a direct bolt on to most any stock sbc back in the late 70s early 80s.

If you have poor exhaust flow with power adders, you will have poor power output.

I do have a set of bare 292 turbo heads ported that are cheap, Have to fix a couple of cracks in them first. Can't be too slow they did go 10.30s

Good price if they do not need a ton of guide or valve work. The thing about the X is that it usually means something. My 441X heads were 80cc instead of 76 but with a blower that might work well.
