Even if a person hires a photographer to take pictures of a wedding, for example, the photographer will own the copyright in the photographs unless the copyright in the photographs is transferred, in writing and signed by the copyright owner, to another person. The subject of the photograph generally has nothing to do with the ownership of the copyright in the photograph.
I.e., no, I don't need permission from any of the car owners to post a photo that I took of their car. The copyright of the photo stays with the photographer unless the photographer releases it.
Pinks, BIR, and egleye have you sign that waiver so you understand that those photos are theirs. They own the copyrights to them. They are also using their photos for "commercial use", i.e. they could make money from the use of the photos. You signing that form is for their benefit, not yours. If you go using their photos without a written release of rights, they have every right to sue you for copyright infringement because you signed the "waiver" saying that you understand that they own the photos.
Maybe others are saving my photos. I'll never know. But I can see you're doing it so I can remind you that it isn't fair to me unless I give permission.
