  • Car Scene Dead This Year

After being out several times this year I thought with the lower gas prices that more people would be out. I see that a lot of the forums are slower this year also and I wonder if the bad economy has hit the car cruzing scene.

Been down to the pig and it seems that if you get a block away there is no one out, The place closes early then everyone scaters like roaches and boom deadsville and it's like 11pm.

I am sure that BTT 50's and CC will be busy but boy it seems slow other than that, Hardly anyone racing either. Is it just me or anyone else notice this trend in the last few years.

The street rod/hot rod guys are still doing the usual summer stuff, but yes, I've noticed a lot less "muscle" on the streets. Somebody should start some legitimate (police approved) gatherings (that includes that sector of the car scene) the same way the hot rod/street rod folks do at North St. Paul, Hastings, Kellogg Blvd. I've only gone to Anoka a few times, but don't they let in the muscle cars? Maybe somebody has something in mind that will include ALL the car guys, regardless (almost) of what you drive (stay tuned and keep your ears open).

I think the avenue days are over (again).
Life is too short to waste time and energy on hate.

Too much local stuff to give a $hit about porkys. I only go once a year and that is for CC.

I haven't been to Porky's yet this year. I lost interest when they brought in the Lot Lizard and it became a campground where people park at 6pm and never leave.

I'm not a fan of all the burnouts and moronic behavior either. We used to enjoy going to Andy's for some real food (versus the Pig's Colon Blow) and watching cars actually 'cruise'.

I miss the days of the Monkey Wards parking lot standing.

The local, organized, car shows have been more fun, especially when the family is in tow.

Shit is lame. If I had something better to do I'd do it, but alas I'm a loser with no life. Oh well, look on the bright side, I don't drive a bus.
I am a total tool here and do not care about anyone but myself

I agree that the car scene is weak lately. Years ago I had a blast... now there isn't much going on. If you are really into local gatherings and fun.. Indianapolis is the place to be. Many age groups, cool cars, a million mustangs, but one common thing: Socializing and having fun. Some good races go on too. I would move there in a heartbeat if nothing held me here.

Sounds like it should be a good time this weekend at BTT 50's
