  • Ballpark my engine's power?

Just looking for some guesstimate's as to what my 406 could be making for power. I'll likely be putting it on a chassis dyno this summer and also taking it to the track. But, in the meantime, what do you guys think it makes for power?

    Here's the basics:

    400 bored 30 over (4.155 bore)
    2 bolt mains
    stock 3.75 stroke forged crank
block was line-bored and zero decked
    6" forged rods
Wiseco forged flat-top pistons with 2 valve reliefs
    custom ground solid FT cam (523 int and 545 ex w 243 and 249 duration @ 50 w/110 LS)
AFR195 Eliminators (65 cc) (out of the box) (2.05I/1.60E valves)
    .039 in. thick head gaskets
    HS 1.5 roller rockers
    Performer RPM Air Gap intake
    750 Holley dp
    1 3/4" headers with 3" dollectors
3" exhaust with X-pipe and UltraFlow mufflers

    Anymore info than that needed?

Ha Ha you hate that motor as it put a hurt on you good.........
As for you engine LC are too wide 406's like 106 to 108 lca's, intake will not make as much HP as single plane and compression should be higher But otherwise not a bad combo.
That 406 in my estimate will make
        422hp
496lbs tq.[poss. higher.]. this is on the engine pump
My 406 had Dart 200's[my brodix 180's ported made the same power] crane mechanical roller, edddy super victor and 12.0 comp. and peak was 602hp at 6300rpm.

This is closer to what I had kinda figured than Phoenix's estimate. (Not that I'd mind his estimate). I think that UDHarold kept the LS at 110 due to my wanting to run PB and A/C yet. It's going to see 95% street time so if it's close to your estimate I'll be more than pleased. It's backed by a 2400 converter and probably 3.73's so I think it'll be fun to beat on

In his build-up thread it says th350 trans and the 8.5 grand nat. rear end.

I was wondering how Phoenix guessed that as well. Flywheel or rear-wheel numbers are fine. It's a TH350, 2400 Holeshot converter, and I'm planning on 3.73 rear gears.

Just downloaded Virtual Engine software. I'm going to plug things into that once.

No way that motor makes that kind of power at the rear wheels. It might make that much at the crank, but definitely not at the wheels.

Here's what Virtual Engine dyno shows (if I put in all the info correctly):

                        Spec sheet:

                        Dyno sheet:

I'll take it with a grain of sand but it's not too far off from 602's guess really

Brutal I think you're working in a pretty large ballpark
