    Deep into the thirteens?

13.5 at 98mph. Is that definitive enough for you? Not too bad for a bonestock 4200lb brickhouse with 120k miles on it. Pump gas not race gas, cracked driver's side manifold and some slight vacuum problems as well. Since then the truck has ran 12.8 @ 104.

So because you've raced one Typhoon you know how they all run? And because that one particular Ty owner has an 8 second dragster he automatically knows Sy/Tys to a science?

I tell ya it doesn't matter who owns what vehicle or how big your buddy's dick is. If you don't know what you're doing with a vehicle that was only made for 2 years (and a limited ammount at that) you're going to run into troubles. Constantly. Sy/Ty's are one of the most (if not THE most) finicky vehicles to mess with out there. I'm sure superford can attest to that.

I love sy/tys theres no doubt about it. But, there are several guys out there who have all sorts of shit done to their trucks and can't get out of the 14's. Sorry to ruin your day but the one video that you have of a run with a Typhoon is not much of a surprise to me.

Actually most mid thirteen second passes would have a bit more mph than 98. ;)

I was dead set on getting a Syclone back in the late 90s when I seen one run 11s at rock falls. Maybe you know this truck It was black with stickers on it. And everytime it ran down the track it looked like transmission fluid was blowing out of the dipstick.

There's really not too many Syclones around town. There's 3 that I know of personally but they're located up north in "the sticks".

I know Larson used to have an 11 sec Syclone. But I'm not sure if that was in the late 90's or not. It may have been later

Oh yeah and superford had a Sy too. Damn clean one. No decals or aything like that. Not sure what it ran either.

It takes a shit load of time and money to make a strong sy/ty They break alot of parts

If he was a shorter guy with blonde hair that was probably Dan. He used to have an extremely clean sy. Then he sold it like 2yrs ago and picked up a modded one.

Yeah he's got a different sy now. It's not as clean but it's built pretty solid. Last I saw him was at Tri-State for the sy/ty/buick meet. He wasn't racing cause he was still trying to get a tune figured out. But his truck was there. He watched my snap my propshaft on the very first pass.

What is the deal with your trucks? Are they just that tought to tune? I would think there has to be some guys out there that have these trucks down.

They're just exremely high maintnence. And yes they are very hard to tune.

They only made the Ty's in 92-93. Throughout the world there was about 5200 of them built. The engineering back then wasn't the best. Not so much the motors, because the 4.3 6 cyl has been konwn to take a lot of abuse. The factory air to water intercooler is extremely insufficient which causes a lot of heat soak which in return (we will say in most cases) wears out ignition. And that's not the only downfall. These trucks individually have a mind of their own based on previous owners and previous modifications. Not every truck likes the same mods. And for owners who do modify the trucks there are really limited amount of resources throughout the nation. Not real hard to get ahold of, but limited amount of availability. The biggest problem with some of the owners is they slap on all sorts of parts to go fast, and their trucks go slower. They dump 5k into the motor, but turn around and try and take a shortcut and spend $300 on a chip that's sent from some dude in Michigan who knows jack dick about their build, mods, or existing tune.

The gentleman that I had work out all the bugs in my Ty his name is Scott Dig. He's a sy owner who has been tuning sy/ty's since 1994. He's well respected in not only the sy/ty community but also the Buick club as well. Thank god I have access to the guy being that he's right up in Sabin, MN. He has a '91 Sy that runs 11's and about the only mods he has are a converter and a 20g turbo. Not too shabby. He was at Tri-State this last summer with his dad's buick runnin 12.0's with the stock turbo.
