There were usually 2-6 cars involved in a given race. We started from a standstill, side-by-side, somewhere around 100' or so apart. We figured that if we started that far apart, the chance of two cars colliding was pretty low. Since we were on glare ice, having lots of power wasn't necessarily a good thing. It was primarily a test of a driver's skills & knowledge of their vehicle's handling at the traction limit. That 180 at the half-way point definitely separated the men from the boys. It was your option to figure out how to do it. Slow way down & do a hairpin-on-ice; slow down just enough to gain the cornering traction needed to do a large-radius sweeping turn; something between the extremes; or make it up as you go.
Finding your maximum acceleration point on ice & getting up to your forward traction limit speed before anyone else feels great! You're just sailing along at that delicate balance point where your available traction equals your vehicle's drag. Next thing you know - it's time to figure out how to pull a 180 from 110 MPH without losing control. I loved every minute of it!There is more stupidity than hydrogen in the universe, and it has a longer shelf life. - Frank Zappa

What's up, This is a cool place to hang out better than a lot of places I have been on lately. Come on guys get some of your buds to join up here, I met the guys that run it a few weeks ago at the pig and they are way funny. This place gets a bad rap from the internet idiots on some of the other sites. I would rather hang out with quality people than punk ass kids that don't own a car.
