Just to set the record straight. Ford did not name the car the terminator. Terminator was the designers code word for the car to keep it a secret from the other auto makers. Then bill ford blabbed this to fast ford magazine who published it in their sneak peek issue of '02. Now all engines blow when pushed too far. I have seen and heared of plenty of chev's that blew up. How about a certain gto that lost 3- motors??? and of course fast mark don't count cuz he's crazy about speed. Oh, and for the record I have not blown up any of my motors, hitech blew 2 in their shop and the third a cam broke cuz the red headed step child is an idiot. lol, lmfao, and yes i need a life.

Anytime there are more internal parts moving around, small displacement engines and 7500 rpm involved, I don't care what brand it is, Sooner or later it is going to pop. RPM kills engines.

Quadro makes some good points, even though I think we've gone through this subject a number of times. The list of Cobra problems has been posted here before. In my opinion, he's never going to convince the Ford guys about the flaws of these motors. I compare it to arguing with a statue.

Does that mean a 64 rambler is a classic?

Well, Quadro owned a '01 Cobra, so I'm not sure he has any right to bitch about a Terminator motor but regardless... I'm still unsure whether or not the Ford modular 32 valve has "problems" since they've been using it in cars since 1993 but the TERMINATOR COBRA (2003 & 2004) motors were known to have problems with high speed 5th & 6th speed runs due to high heat in the pistons under extreme amounts of boost and a lack of cooling to the head. Most guys went out and went fast because the car had torque & power like nothing any other Ford modular motor ever had.

I'd venture to say there were more people that street raced these particular models since they were known as the Mustang kings of the street in 2003/2004. However, they were SUPER easy to modify and push way beyond the factory limits, a cold air intake netted like 28RWHP and a pulley swap could get you over 50rwhp with a 5 minute swap. Throw an exhaust, tune, etc on these cars and you easily make 500rwhp at the wheels, which MOST of them did right away.

Also, I'd argue that the pistons in the Cobra were weak, NOT the 32 valve design itself. However, there have been plenty of LS1's and LT1's that have blown up too. I just think the TERMINATOR got more publicity from the GM guys because there was nothing else to do besides sit on the sidelines and fling shit at the Ford guys since the Cameeeero was gone. Long live the mullet! :)
