          The revised quarter skin (you can see one of them on the jig on the other side of the car) he bought bubbles out an extra 3/4" for more tire clearance. It's required in order to fit the tire he's going to run.

          Back in 1996 when the molds were made to produce fiberglass Grand Am bodies, the tire he plans on running didn't exist. Once the tire came on the market, the manufacturer of the body created replacement quarter skins that give you the extra room needed to fit this size tire.

                The chassis is as low as NHRA allows. The body is even lower.
