No, "I getz high" was Willie. -
Willie was another interesting guy I knew from Southern Ill. He used to hang out with my brother in law around '68.
Anyway, Willie bought a '68 Pontiac Executive which was a lower trim line to a Bonneville. The car was pretty clean, but had one noisey lifter (tick...tick...tick...) He would come by where we'd hang out and sit in his car and blow the horn. This was letting you know he wanted you to drop what you were doing and come out to talk to him. Pretty soon...we began to learn when it was Willie because he'd blow the horn and then you'd hear that "tick...tick...tick.
Anyway Willie like to smoke weed. He actually drove around with bags of weed in his car without any worries. One day my brother in law told him he'd better be careful carrying all that weed around because he was gonna get busted. He also pointed out that his chances of getting busted were greater since he had one burned out headlite and one taillight.
Willie never got pulled over. He drove nearly 400 miles to Chicago without ever fixing his lights and still didn't get pulled over. In fact, he had to stop a policeman to ask for directions and they never mentioned his lights.
Willie made it back home and one Saturday morning his mom needed a ride to the grocery store. As he drove towards the store, a car pulled out in front of him and he had to throw on brakes hard. When he did that, a bag of weed rolled out from under the seat right by his mom's feet. She picked up the bag and shouted in disgust "WILLIE! WHAT'S THIS???????
He looked over at her and in weed-intoxicating voice said..."mom-----I might as well tell you right now---I getz high!" :lol:
